Steroids

What should be the punishment for professional athletes who are caught using performance enhancing drugs?

  1. I think that if a professional athlete gets caught using a PED, they should be suspended for a full season.

    1. i disagree with you moe; if they get caught using steroids they should only get suspended for half their season.

    2. Moe i agree with you, it would show the athletes that what they are doing is wrong.

  2. I think that if you you get caught using steroids as an athlete you should get suspended for a minimum of 80 games.

  3. I think professional athletes caught using PEDs should be permanently baned from their sport. They know they are taking them to gain an unfair advantage.

    1. I disagree with this because they shoould atk=least get one chance before they get kicked out of the league but if they get caught numerous times then i agree with you.

    2. I disagree. Athletes like Marian Jones have so much potential, and I bet if she had another shot at the Olympics she could have gotten somewhere. People make mistakes, and they change.

    3. Using Steroids is the worst way to cheat. You know what you do. i agree with you Barbush. Permanent ban.

  4. If any athlete gets caught using PED's I believe they should be suspended all season without pay.

    1. I think the without pay statement is a big deal because some atheles still get paid when they are suspended so thats a good idea.

    2. I agree, they should have their pay taken away. They also should have a probationary period. If they take steroids again, then they are banned from the game.

    3. Suspending without pay would be like a temporary leave of absence from your job without pay. I agree that this should be enforced for breaking the rules.

    4. I think that the without pay part is a really good idea.

  5. I think a professional athlete caught using steroids should definitely be suspended, but depending on how much they were using. If they were like Armstrong doing full blood transfusions, than they definitely deserve to be out a season or two, maybe more.

    1. Hannah i agree i think that they should get suspended, i also agree on that there suspension should depened on how much they were using.

    2. Hannah how would they know how much they have been using? It would be easier if they all got the same amount. A whole season would be a reasonable amount.

    3. I don't know, probably the same way they were caught in the first place. Drug tests, maybe more then once. I'm obviously not a pro and up to date on all this, but aren't they still figuring out how much Armstrong was on? I don't know, I'm clearly not a doctor. But theres so many types of steroids, to treat everyone equal with that is just unfair.

  6. I think the athletes caught using PEDs should be suspended for the remainder of their season, or if caught in the off-season they should be suspended for the whole next season. If they are caught again then they should be banned from whatever sport they play for life.

    1. I agree with kyle, It's a good idea to suspend them for the remainder of the season, or in offseason be suspended the whole next season.

  7. I feel that if an athlete is caught using performance enhancing drugs, they should be suspended for a third of their season. The second offense should be a full season, and then the third should be a ban against the game.

    1. I can't imagine someone using PEDS three times and getting caught but it does happen and those people are really stupid.

    2. I do believe that they should get a warning the first time and if they do it a second time just banned them from the sport because obviously their going to keep using steroids no matter if their career is on the line.

  8. I think a professional athlete should be suspended for a limited time from the sport they participated in if they get caught.

  9. I think there should be a lifetime band because they are cheating the game and all the other atheles that are playing it clean.

    1. Though I understand your zeal, I do not think that they should receive a lifetime ban on the first offense. It's not a totally clean game, also. The lifetime ban should only come from multiple offenses or lying to authorities.

    2. I disagree with Jonathan; one single drug test doesn't show long term use of P.E.D.s. If someone were to be on P.E.D.s for a long time, say since high school then to make it to a professional team. I believe this should be assumed or taken into consideration. I believe in lifetime bands for athletes who use P.E.D.s.

    3. I agree with Barbush. People who use PEDs didn't start when they were young. If they started three weeks before hand, then they should just be slapped on the back of the hand. Now if they were doing it since the ninth grade, then sure, kick them out of the sport.

    4. I agree with Riley about te life time band but I do believe their should be a warning before he gets band for a bad mistake

  10. I agree with you Dave Palac, the athletes should be suspended for a limited time.

  11. I think if a professional athlete gets caught using PEDs they should get suspended just until the drug is completely out of there system.

    1. I dont think that would be enough time. They should at least be suspended for a few months.

  12. I believe that if you are using performance enhancing drugs you should be kicked out from your sport for the rest of the season. A fine should also be given and stripped of all medals previous years with in the sport.

  13. I think that for the first offense, the penalty should be suspension for the whole season. Any offense after that, they should be kicked out of their league for good. They should not be able to play another professional game in their life. Maybe they should've thought twice before they decided to use PEDs.

    1. I don't think taking PEDs is so bad to never let the athlete play another professional sport in their life. Yeah it's cheating. Having a better advantage over the other team, but I'm sure he or she are not the only ones taking PEDs. There wouldn't be any athletes to even play the sports.

  14. I believe that people who use steroids should be on probation. If they break that probation, they go to jail for one year. Once they come back out, and do the same act again, they should be sentenced to another 2 years in jail, plus thirty hours of community service. If they do it again, the second punishment persists and adds a year and ten service hours for each time they do it.

    1. If steroids are so bad for your body the punishment should be just as bad as any other drug. I think an athlete on steroids should be compared to a drunk driver. Thus, the punishment pretty bad for a first time offense to disencourage useage.

  15. I think the consequence for getting caught using peds should be a suspension at first for a warning and if they get caught a 2nd time then I believe they should get banned from that sport professionally all together because they had their warning and made the choice to do it again and cheat.

    1. Why just a warning Anthony? Don't you think they should at least be suspended for the remaining of the season?

      Delete
    2. yes i believe they should be warned the first time so the second time they wont come up with an excuse if they were to get caught a second time they would just be banned for good.

    3. Yes, I totally agree with you Anthony.

  16. I agree with Austin about the punishments being more severe like jail time but I don't think sending an athlete to jail for years is a reasonable maybe months but I don't think it's a serious enough crime to be put in jail for a long period of time.

    1. Putting an athlete in jail for cheating is to much. unless they distribute out steroids to other people.

  17. If an athlete is caught using performance enhancements. The punishment shouldn't be any worse then being suspended a third of it season with out pay. Athlete should be allowed to play after the suspended time without difficulties.

    1. If the punishment is that soft then people are more likley to do it knowing they will get a second chance.

    2. I believe that the consequences of getting caught using steroids that we have now is a good way to deal with the situation because its only fair. You and 10 other teams/people want the big W. when using steroids your cheating yourself and stealing what isnt really yours.
