Jackie Robinson

Should more or less be done to celebrate/remember Jackie Robinson's life?

  1. There should be alot more done to celebrate Jackie Robinsons life because he changed baseball so much. Without him there would have been no blacks playing baseball for a lot more years after he joined.

    2. I agree and disagree with jake he did change the color barrier and changed the game, but to me baseball has done enough for younger generations to learn about Jackie Robinson.

    3. I agree with Mr.Kosiek. He should have a holiday after the changes he had brought upon the baseball league.

    4. It was only a matter of time until they found out that blacks were as good as whites in baseball and Jackie set the standard

    5. I completely agree with you Jake. Who knows how long it would take for African Americans to finally get into the sport if it wasn't for him.

    6. I bet if he never would have decided to play it would have took many more years for society to see African Americans as equal.

  2. I think enough is being done now because they have jackie robinson day and all the players wear number 42 plus no one can wear the number 42 in the league because it was retired.

    1. I agree with you Riley. I believe that enough is being done to remember Jackie Robinson. I find very cool how the players wear number 42 to honor Jackie.

  3. I agrre with you because it would be an honor to wear his number and every player gets to do that for a whole day. once that day is over that number is never worn again for the rest of the year until his day comes again.

  4. I think there's already enough being done to remember Jackie Robinson. His number has been retired and every year for one game each player on each team wears the number 42 in rememberence of Jackie Robinson.

    1. I agree I think its cool to see everyone remember him for on day by wearing his number, he's the only player that has his own day of rememberence.

    2. I agree with John. What else is there to do? He made great history, and enough is being done to celebrate it.

  5. I definitely agree with John. He very well should be celebrated but I don't exactly feel that anymore needs to be done. His accomplishments were still amazing feats nonetheless.

  6. Being the first black player is a huge thing in baseball the way he is remembered on this month seems good enough for his achivements

    1. I agree with you, this month is perfect for remembering a inspiring story like Jackie's.

  7. I agree with Jake, Jackie Robinson changed baseball. He took a big risk not really knowing what others were thinking about him. If Jackie didn't take that step for blacks there wouldn't be any blacks playing until later on. I believe that there should be more done for Jackie.

  8. There should be more to celebrate Jackie Robinson because he is more than a talented baseball player. I would consider Robinson the greatest and also a legend.

    1. Jackie Robinson was one of the best and was the first black man to play base ball so for the whole NBL to wear his number is enough to remember him because the whole time the game is going on there going to be thinking of him because all there going to see is his number on every player.

    2. I saw a movie trailer for a Jackie Robinson movie. It looks really good and it would show more people who he really is.

  9. I think Jackie Robinson should be remembered more because with him breaking the color barrier it changed to whole sport of baseball.

    2. But if it wasn't him somebody else would have.

  10. I question if his fame was really fare in a way because he wasn't really the best at that time.

    1. I totally agree with Eman. Him not being the best emphasizes even more on the fact that his level of intellectual intelligence was what really made him get recruited.

    2. His social reputation overshadows his play, however. He still was a great player. He was a better man than most, which is why he is commemorated so grandiosely.

    3. But he was one of the best.

    4. He was good but had he been white he would be far less known and celebrated.

  11. I think there's already a lot of things that are being done to remember Robinson. His number 42 is retired, the only player that wears is is Mariano Revera, and there's a day that every player wears the number 42 on their back during the game.

    1. I think its okay to let Revera weaf his number because he is one of the greatest closers of all time.

    2. Moe you make a good point about Revera, i never noticed how he is the only player that wears the number 42.

  12. Less should be done to remember Jackie in order to tell the story of other players. Who also have helped break the racial barrier after Jackie.

    1. I agree. He was a great man, but he shouldn't overshadow other great men as well.

    2. I agree maybe if each first African American player had a moment like Jackie the remembrance of it in the MLB would look alot nicer and more honorable

    3. True. He was the start to the change, but he wasn't the only one.

  13. I think they should do a bit more to remember Jackie. Perhaps a day for him and all the other African Americans who helped break the racial barrier.

  14. The man is celebrated a lot in baseball and throughout the nation already. I believe that his legacy shall be remembered, but that we shouldn't dwell too much in the past. He should be commemorated. And I feel that there will be other men who will deserve the same amount of glory one day too. If more could be done, it already would have.

    1. I think you're right about how there are many men who deserve the same amount of glory and honor but don't get it.

    2. I agree with you about Jackie always being remembered as a legend.

    3. I completely agree with John. He was a great player and deserves to be remembered. He had a great impact, but he wasn't the only one.

  15. Jackie Robinson deserves to be honored for his success. He was the very first African American in the major leagues. Therefore, I feel that he truly needs to be honored and well respected.

    1. I agree with sergio on this. I give Jackie so much respect for being the only african american in the MLB and sticking with it and prooving a point about black playing baseball.

    2. I agree with you too sergio, being the first african american is something special.

  16. I don't feel like much more can be done to remember Robinson and celebrate what he accomplished. He made great history, but theres not much more that can be done to embrace that. True baseball fans are going to know who he is, and what he has done.
