Michael Jordan

What do you think of Jordan after reading the article by Wright Thompson?

  1. After reading that article, I see Jordan as kind of depressed over what he once had and not able to move on from basketball. He could do anything he wants but he just wants to keep playing. He is still living in the past.

    1. i agree with you completly. i think jordan should try to move on from basketball because if he stays there he would just be trying to beat a ghost of his former self.

    2. I agree as well he has everything he wants except basketball and that kills him everyday.

    3. I also agree with you. Jordan is now depressed and keeps on reflecting on the past. He now tries playing other sports or getting involved in different activities, but there's nothing like the game of basketball. He would do anything just to go back to that day.

  2. His personal life doesn't change what he has accomplished. Still the GOAT.

  3. After reading this I think Jordan wants to be able to play basketball again more then anything but he cant face the fact that he cant play because of his age.

    1. I agree, his age is stopping him from doing anything.

    2. I strongly agree with you, that is why he would trade everything he has for him to play again

    3. I also agree. Now he's at an age where's nothing else to do, but sit around. He's already accomplished so much and there's nothing else to compete at. He is still the greatest player of all time.

    4. I think he needs to get over his life crisis, and grow the f*** up! He needs to move on and liv his life as it is now, not what he wishes it was.

  4. I think it kind of changed for me because I really didn't know how he was off the court but now that I know he doesn't seem like he has a good personality.

    1. I agree with you, I seen Jordan as a whole different person before reading the article. I had way different perspectives on Jordan before. He doesn't seem like he's a good person as I thought he was after all.

  5. I think that Jordan is just being a big baby about this. There is so many other thing that can keep him occupied and still competitive. There are things that he can do like play a game that you can get number one, or build a car and race it. There is just so many other things that he can do to occupy himself.

    1. I disagree with your opinion. He's longing for a past that he'll never get to again. Sure theres other stuff he can do for the game of basketball, but he'll never play the way he used to. Going from the top, and than feeling forgetten has got to be hard to deal with. He's depressed he can't go back, and theres nothing he can do about it.

    2. I also disagree with you, because I don't blame Michael Jordan for being depressed. He was an amazing athlete, and he misses the game. Now that his days are over, he has nothing to do. I would do anything to go back to his prime as well. However, there's nothing he can do about it.

    3. Think about it, the one thing you love more than life, taken from you. I would be just heart broken. Just because someone has money it doesn't mean they are happy.

  6. He seems almost bitter. I feel that he thinks there is more that he could have done in his career and doesn't want to be compared to the players of today. He holds his era of players in a much higher prestige than today's players; he doesn't exactly give them enough credit.

    1. I agree with you on this completely, basketball back then and now has changed completely style and play wise. He wouldn't be able to compete with today's players just like today's couldn't compete with the old days players.

    2. Yeah thats true it almost seems like he is jealous of the players who are playing now.

  7. I think he will always be the best player that the NBA has ever seen, but if he changed his attitude and was nicer to people i bellieve he would be liked by more people and would be rememered for alot longer.

    1. I totally agree with you Jake he comes off as a person that is a little to cocky.

    2. I actually think that him being as he is makes him more memorable. He doesn't let people forget who he is. He always says he is and was the best. We don't even need others to remind us because h constantly reminds us.

  8. I used to think Jordan was ignorant. After reading this article though, I feel bad for him. He makes more money than I ever will, and lives the life any of us could dream of, but he's still miserable. His heart is in basketball, and he just can't play. It's ashame that he's not happy, and probably won't be for a long time.

    1. I agree Hannah, Jordan has everything and he is miserable. Jordan loves the game of basketball and is growing older every day and his body is breaking down. Its a shame that he cant play the game the way that he wants to as he used to.

    2. I do agree in a sense that he is really miserable. But what I don't agree with is that he isn't doing much to try and help himself. If it was me, id go around and look for an adult basketball traveling team just so that I could still play the game competitively. Or if he loves the game so much, and can read other players moves so easily, then why doesn't he coach? I just think that there is so many other opportunities that stand right in his face for him. He should be as miserable as he is.

  9. I enjoyed the story. It gave the entire backround of Michel Jordan and showed what he came from, what he went threw, and what he is going threw now.

    1. I also enjoyed the story just like jacob. the story showed us Jordans background, where he came from, what he went through and also what hes currently going through.

  10. i think Jordan had it kind of hard but he shouldn't be the way he is towards other people because it will not change his life.

    1. I agree with roy, just because he had it hard growing up dosent mean he could treat people like that

  11. I think Michael Jordan knows he is getting older but he doesn't want to come to terms with it. He sees himself as a competitor and always has. I feel like he doesn't just want to see himself fade away and be forgotten. That is probably his biggest fear in my opinion.

    1. I agree with this. Competeing is all he knows, and having that taken physically taken away has got to be hard. He's going from the very top, to almost rock bottem.

    2. I too agree, he prolly always wants to be seen as a young legend who never ages. He has not come to accept that he can't be what he once was anymore and has to move on.

  12. After reading this article it seems like Jordan still wants to play basketball, but he knows deep down his body wouldnt be able to hold up.

    1. I agree with john. He has the will to play but his body wont let him

    2. I feel so bad for him. He even said he would give up everything to play again. He really wants the glory once more.

  13. I think of Jordan as an over competitor. He doesnt want to except the fact that someone is trying to overcome what he accomplished. He doesnt want that to happen because he doesnt want to be forgotten and replaced by another athlete. And that he still has a obsession over basketball and its hard for him to forget about it.

    1. i disagree, it was jordans competitive nature that got him where he is at today. if it wasnt for that i highly doubt jordan we be as big as he is today.

  14. I still think that Jordan is the best to step into the NBA. He is also exaggerating about having to be so good and competitive at everything he does.

    1. I agree with you on the first part but not the second. I think to him he really does have to be first at everything he does.

    2. I agree with you with him having to be the best there was in the NBA, but him being a competitor was what made Michael Jordan.

  15. My feeling towards Michael Jordan has not really changed. I believe that he will always be the best player that ever stepped on the court. I do feel bad for him though because he has everything anyone would dream of having but would trade it all to just be back at 218.

  16. I see Michael Jordan as the same hero since i was a little kid. Even though he mean at times you can tell he is depressed and he misses his father. He deals with his problems by watching westerns to remember him, that makes him strong and still a hero in my eyes.

  17. After reading this article i learned that Jordan has a bad personality, although i still feel bad for him because he has everything one can dream of but he is still miserable because he loves basketball more than anything and that he would give all his stuff away just to play basketball again

    1. I agree, he does have a bad personality. He seems like that nothing will change for him, but all he has to do is make something happen. That's all he has to do to become happy again.

  18. I think that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time . After reading this it just made it even more clear that Jordan is a person who likes competition and does not like to lose. It shows that he doesn't give up especially not on basketball. He show's that basketball is everything to him and he would love to play again, So it think he's a good person with ambitious thoughts.

  19. That article makes me think of the position that Michael Jordan is put in now. He is willing to trade in everything he has, just so he could play basketball again. Jordan just loves the game of basketball. Yes, sometimes he holds his head up high, but he has a reason. He is the best basketball player to every play, hands down.

    1. I strongly agree with you. Jordan has every right to be proud of his achievements and I will always remember him as one of the best basketball players of all time.

    2. I just think that no one knows who the real Michael Jordan is because people can be different with they're close friends but even then his closest friends know how much the game meant to him. It was his life and now its gone.

    3. I agree with you sergio because I would be willing to trade everything I have just to play basketball again. I also agree with you about him being the best basketball player hands down.

  20. i think jordan is just a misunderstood guy. we judge the man when we dont even know him. anybodys actions can be misinterpeterd if we dont know why they do the things they do. he might seem cocky and arrogant to people that dont know him but to the poeople that are in his circle think its him being him.

    1. I agree with bernard when he says that we judge him without even really knowing him. we know him from the media, but not person to person knowing him.

    2. I agree with both of you guys, we all just judge him off of what the media says with out knowing him personally.

  21. I think Jordan is very cocky when it comes to anything he can compete with. I feel bad for him because how he has everything he needs when it comes to wealth but what he really wants is to be that young basketball player he used to be. I don't think he will overcome that sadness.

    1. I agree, Jordan misses the sport of basketball more than anything else. After reading the article, I see Jordan's obsession over his own competitiveness. He has the number 218 stuck in his head. Maybe its because he truly believes he could play again.

    2. I agree, Jordan believes he can truly get back on the court and perform like he used to. But the reality is that he can't do the things that he could do when he was young in the NBA. His mind is ready for that goal, but his body isn't.

    3. Every athlete wants to keep playing the sport they love because it is what they grew up on and do not know anything else to do.

  22. I really thought of Jordan differently before we read the article. In fact, I didn't really think Jordan was really that conceded about himself. But I did know for the fact he was very competitive in basketball but not as competitive in anything else.

  23. I feel that Jordan will always be the best basketball player no matter what. He still wants to play basketball, that he still has passion for basketball and probably loves it more than any other player in the NBA. Jordan isn't as happy as he would be if he stepped on that court once again.

  24. I think that Michael Jordan should have died at an early age to keep himself from seeing his accomplishments fade away right before him.

    1. If Jordan died at an earlier age he wouldn't be able to accomplish all the things that he did.

    2. I dont agree with that.I think Jordan kiving longer was better because he gets to love a good life and still know he was the best basketball player that ever lived.

  25. After reading this article i still think Jordan is a good basketball player. He is very competative, someone who doesnt want another basketball player taking his spot. Jordan would trade everything in just to play basketball again, its his dream, his passion. Knowing theres another basketball player out there trying to over come Jordans accomplishments to become the one, Jordan doesnt want to be forgotten.

  26. After reading this article about Jordan I learned more about him and were he comes from as a retired athlete. I beleive that Jordan needs to come in peace within himself and accept that he will never have that ability to play like he once did. He has to understand that you cant have the best of both worlds forever. even though he misses the fame he still has the money.
